Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations
Prepare and post complex journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts in accordance with nonprofit fund accounting principles
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
Prepare financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analyses for management and the Board of Directors
Support annual audits by preparing schedules, providing documentation, and working directly with external auditors
Track, reconcile, and report on restricted and unrestricted funds
Maintain accurate records of grant activity and ensure compliance with funding requirements
Prepare grant financial reports for funders in collaboration with program managers
Prepare monthly budget-to-actual reports and variance analyses for management and program staff
Assist in developing and monitoring budgets and forecasts
Provide financial insights to support decision-making across the organization
Ensure compliance with GAAP, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), and other applicable nonprofit accounting regulations
Maintain and improve internal controls to safeguard organizational assets
Qualification
Required
Experience leading close processes and supporting audits
Strong understanding of GAAP and fund accounting principles
Knowledge of tracking, reconciling, and reporting restricted/unrestricted funds
Familiarity with nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements
Skilled in accounting systems and intermediate to advanced Excel
High accuracy in journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting
Ability to perform budget-to-actual analysis and provide actionable insights
Ability to prepare accurate financial statements, supporting schedules, and variance analyses
Ability to maintain and improve processes to safeguard assets
Ability to collaborate with program managers, auditors, and leadership
