EPITEC is seeking a Plant Engineer to support the optimization and reliability of advanced control systems in a high-volume manufacturing environment. The role involves improving equipment performance, troubleshooting automation, and ensuring integration between controls and plant IT systems.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement control system improvements using Factory Information Systems (FIS) data
Lead problem-solving efforts to resolve equipment performance issues and eliminate recurring downtime
Coordinate troubleshooting activities, break down complex issues, validate root causes, and drive corrective actions
Support training for manufacturing personnel and plant electricians on controls and automation
Integrate controls with plant IT systems including FIS, Error Proofing, QWX, and QTS
Troubleshoot machinery, robotics, automation, and controls to minimize downtime and improve reliability
Use FIS monitoring tools to analyze cycle times and identify improvement opportunities
Review and coordinate project installations to ensure proper controls implementation
Reprogram equipment to support engineering changes and continuous improvement initiatives
Maintain program backups for machinery, automation, and robotics
Program new automation and material-handling systems including robots and machinery
Participate in equipment safety evaluations through risk assessment reviews

Required

Experience with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and strong troubleshooting capability
Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices and error-proofing principles
5+ years of related controls/automation experience in a manufacturing environment
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills
Comfort working with UAW maintenance, vendors, and process teams
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
PLC experience with Siemens, Rexroth, and Allen-Bradley

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in engineering
Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma exposure including 8D, 5Why, 5S, Kanban, Poka-yoke, and VSM
Familiarity with UL508A and NFPA79 standards
Experience with Siemens Step 7, TIA Portal, and power/solution line programming
Fanuc robot troubleshooting experience
