They are seeking a Policy and Planning Analyst to support strategic planning and policy development within the Department of Public Safety, engaging with stakeholders and analyzing policies and legislation.

Responsibilities

Assisting with policy development and review, researching and gathering data, developing strategic plans and providing analysis and evaluation on projects

Consulting with both internal and external program stakeholders

Performing public safety related policy analysis/evaluation and providing technical assistance

Providing recommendations for agency and state policies, procedures, regulatory, and legislative proposals

Establishing and maintaining contact with DPS leadership and other stakeholders to ensure an atmosphere of open communication and collaboration

Using strong written and verbal skills to help DPS Divisions to develop new and review existing Division-level policies

Researching and gathering data to support decision making by management

Coordinating with Divisions in the development and implementation of strategic plans

Supporting management by identifying alternatives and developing recommendations regarding Department and Division-level goals and policies

Analyzing existing and proposed local, state, and federal legislation and regulations

Overseeing special projects as assigned by the OP3 Director or other DPS leadership

Required

Bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution and three (3) years progressively responsible experience related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience
