Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for corporate finance clients utilizing SBLC products
Lead client onboarding, including SBLC terms and conditions review
Partner directly with clients to understand requirements and structure appropriate SBLC solutions
Manage SBLC transactions from initial structuring through finalization, followed by handoff to downstream processing teams
Support multiple lines of business (LOBs), requiring strong prioritization and context-switching skills
Own the operational execution and processing of SBLCs, including: Evergreen SBLCs, Transferable SBLCs, Import and Export Letters of Credit
Ensure all transactions comply with applicable trade finance rules and legal frameworks (e.g., ISP, UCP)
Apply a clear understanding of UCP vs. ISP distinctions in structuring and documentation
Partner closely with Legal and Product teams to: Negotiate SBLC language with clients, Ensure documentation aligns with bank policies and regulatory standards, Identify and resolve structuring or documentation issues early in the process
Proactively identify potential operational and documentation risks within SBLC transactions
Ensure adherence to internal controls, compliance requirements, and regulatory guidelines
Act as a subject-matter expert (SME) for trade finance operations within the organization
Support the ongoing expansion of the SBLC and trade finance operations function
Gradually transition into a people-management role, leading a team of 10–15 professionals
Qualification
Required
Strong operational background in Trade Finance, with a specific focus on Standby Letters of Credit (SBLCs)
Prior hands-on SBLC operations experience (sales-only or product-only experience is not sufficient)
Proven experience negotiating SBLC language with clients and internal legal teams
Working knowledge of Standby Letters of Credit
Working knowledge of Import and Export Letters of Credit
Working knowledge of Evergreen and transferable SBLC structures
Working knowledge of trade finance rules and guidelines (e.g., UCP, ISP)
Ability to act as a trusted client advisor while effectively managing operational and compliance risk
Experience supporting multiple lines of business simultaneously
