Vice President of Operations & Events
The Greensboro Sports Foundation (GSF) is dedicated to promoting and growing sports tourism in Greensboro, North Carolina. The Vice President of Operations & Events is a senior leadership role responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing all events supported by GSF, including high-profile national and international events, while managing partnerships and volunteer leadership.

Responsibilities
Lead planning and execution for major GSF supported events, including:
2027 & 2029 Men’s ACC Basketball Tournaments (establishing and leading a Local Organizing Committee)
2029 World University Games
2029 AAU Junior Olympics
Provide overall operational leadership for all GSF events, ensuring excellence in delivery and stakeholder satisfaction
Supervise the Event & Volunteer Coordinator, overseeing recruitment, training, and management of GSF volunteers
Manage and grow the GSF Internship Program (Spring, Summer, Fall) and maintain partnerships with regional colleges and universities
Represent GSF with National Governing Bodies, rights holders, and industry partners
Attend and represent GSF at industry conferences, including Sports ETA and TEAMS
Identify, evaluate, and help secure revenue-generating sports events in collaboration with partners such as the ACC, Gazelle Sports, Kemper Sports, and others
Work closely with the Greensboro Area Convention & Visitors Bureau to recruit and support youth and amateur sports events
Manage sports tourism-related grant applications and reporting, including Youth Sports and Major Events funds through the NC Department of Commerce
Serve as GSF’s liaison to the NC Sports Commission Association, NC Department of Commerce, and NC Department of Tourism
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
7–10 years of experience in sports event management, operations, or sports tourism
Proven experience leading large-scale sporting events
Strong leadership experience managing staff, volunteers, and interns
Excellent organizational, communication, and relationship-building skills
Ability to travel and work evenings/weekends as required by event schedules
Preferred
Sport Management, Business, or related field preferred
