Mechanical Design Engineer

Armstrong Chemtec Group is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer responsible for designing equipment for assigned jobs. The role involves performing ASME Code calculations, generating equipment drawings, and collaborating with Project Managers to finalize mechanical designs.

Responsibilities

Act as lead engineer for all assigned jobs
Study and assess customer specifications, purchase orders, related technical correspondence, and other relevant documents for all assigned jobs
Generate equipment drawings and supporting documents such as ASME Code calculations and inspection and test plans for all assigned jobs
Manage document revisions and work closely with other Employees on problem solving to meet all job requirements while keeping schedule and budget in mind
Review the fabrication status for assigned jobs at least once per week by making in-person trips to the manufacturing shop and answer all shop questions in a timely manner
Ensure that all projects meet applicable Codes, Standards, and Customer Specifications
Ensure that Customer comments of technical nature are handled appropriately
Provide and facilitate technical assistance to other areas of the Company when requested
Meet all assigned deadlines
Stay current on industry standards and codes
Work closely with the Project Management Group to ensure projects can be completed successfully
Understand and follow company policies, procedures, and workflows
Other duties may be occasionally assigned

Required

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering required
Must be organized and detail oriented
Must have excellent communication skills and team-oriented attitude
Must have problem solving skills
Must have computer skills such as Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred

Knowledge of process and heat transfer equipment preferred
Minimum 5 years experience with 2+ years of design experience to ASME Section VIII Div. 1 preferred
Knowledge of electric heating equipment is a plus
Professional engineer (PE) license is a plus
Experience in project management or leading a team is a plus
Knowledge of COMPRESS software is a plus
Knowledge of AutoCAD or Inventor software is a plus
Knowledge of Electrical and Fire codes such as NEC or ATEX is a plus
Knowledge of fatigue analysis and/or finite element analysis is a plus
Knowledge of welding techniques, procedures, and filler metals is a plus
