Engineering Manager, Frontend
CHAMP is redefining technology for Motor Vehicle Agencies with innovative cloud-based software. They are seeking an experienced Front End Engineering Manager to lead and grow their front end engineering team, ensuring successful delivery across multiple applications while fostering a high-performing team culture.
Responsibilities
Manage, coach, and develop a team of approximately 10 front end engineers
Own the full talent lifecycle: hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development
Conduct regular 1:1s, provide actionable feedback, and create growth plans for team members
Build and maintain a collaborative, high-trust team culture grounded in candor and rigor
Manage staffing and resource allocation across multiple applications and competing priorities
Participate actively in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge
Contribute to architecture discussions and technical decision-making
Guide the team on best practices, patterns, and technical standards
Partner with the product and design teams to translate requirements into technical solutions
Collaborate with leaders across the organization to ensure seamless integration and delivery
Stay current with front end technologies and evaluate new tools and approaches
Ensure consistent, high-quality delivery across multiple applications
Partner with product to ensure the team can deliver on priorities and manage expectations
Identify and remove blockers that slow down the team
Drive process improvements to increase team effectiveness and velocity
Foster strong cross-functional collaboration across design, product, and engineering
Qualification
Required
5+ years of experience as a front end engineer – preferably building SaaS and/or B2B applications
1-5 years of experience leading or managing engineering teams
Proven track record of building and developing high-performing engineering teams
Experience managing competing priorities and resource allocation across multiple projects
Strong expertise in React and/or other modern JavaScript frameworks
Deep understanding of front end architecture, security, performance, and best practices
Experience with the full software development lifecycle, from design to deployment, monitoring, and observability
Ability to evaluate technical tradeoffs and guide architectural decisions
Comfortable conducting thorough code reviews and providing constructive technical feedback
Demonstrated ability to coach and develop engineers at various skill levels
Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience hiring and building engineering teams
Comfortable giving and receiving candid feedback
Collaborative mindset with a track record of working effectively across functions
