Associate Emerging Technology Analyst

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is a U.S. Department of Energy national laboratory focused on addressing critical national challenges. Responsibilities

Research & write short (1‑3 page) reports on emerging tech topics (AI, additive manufacturing, advanced materials, energetics, etc.)
Collaborate with subject‑matter experts across ORNL and with partner agencies
Create briefings (slides, talking points) for internal leadership and external sponsors
Help produce both unclassified and classified analytic products, following community trade‑craft guidelines
Learn the fundamentals of intelligence analysis through core training courses (provided)
Travel domestically a few times per year for briefings or field visits
Uphold ORNL’s safety, quality, and ethics standards

Required

Bachelor's degree in any scientific, engineering, or related field (e.g., physics, computer science, international affairs, political science, cyber‑security, languages)
Strong communication skills both written and verbal
Q clearance with SCI: This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance from the Department of Energy
This position is a Workplace Substance Abuse (WSAP) testing designated position
WSAP positions require passing a pre-placement drug test and participation in an ongoing random drug testing program
Due to the SCI, you may also be subject to random polygraph testing
