Structural Design Engineer II - New Glenn

Blue Origin is working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems for the benefit of Earth. Responsibilities

Primary responsibility: Full design engineering ownership of metallic structural and associated thermal protection system components
Provide general build support Engineering through the disposition of non-conformances, identification of process improvements, and updates to engineering definition
Identify, develop and implement opportunities for New Glenn upgrades and improvements
Create and modify drawings, specifications, and other documentation

Required

Minimum of a B.S. degree in engineering
2+ years of experience with automotive, aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures
Material selection, compatibility and manufacturing techniques
Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D CAD software
Experience with GD&T analysis (ASME Y14.5)
Take ownership of work and operate under minimal direction

Preferred

4+ years of experience in the areas of thermal protection system development, testing, and data analysis
Familiarity with silicone adhesive and bonding processes
Knowledge of systems engineering practices, manufacturing fabrication and assembly processes, and quality control
Thermal Protection System Design experience
Experience with Creo (Pro/E), Windchill 10, and Ansys
Experience with aerospace hardware design ownership
