Responsibilities
Pitch and write engaging real estate stories for the Daily Mail, ranging from breaking news to in-depth, case-study-driven features
Contribute to Mail+ by producing original and consumer-focused real estate and personal finance coverage
Cover fast-moving developments in US housing, from the rise and fall of boomtowns to emerging hotspots, trends from both locally, regionally and nationally and notable or celebrity transactions
Build and maintain a strong network of industry contacts, including agents, developers, analysts and economists
Analyze data-heavy housing market reports to identify compelling trends and clear storylines
Translate complex property and economic information into vibrant, accessible and accurate copy
Work closely with the picture desk to select eye-catching imagery and commission graphics
Track story performance and use audience data to refine pitches, headlines and formats
Qualification
Required
Strong interest in US housing markets and how real estate trends impact consumers' financial lives
Familiarity with local and national real estate databases and market reports
Understanding of how US businesses, lenders and developers operate — with a focus on consumer impact rather than financial markets
Passion for the Daily Mail brand, editorial voice and global audience
At least five years' journalism experience
Working knowledge of SEO, or a strong willingness to learn quickly
Collaborative, curious and comfortable working across teams
Enthusiasm for news in general and real estate and consumer journalism in particular
