Responsibilities

Monitor and manage project budgets, including cost tracking, forecasting, and analysis. Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and controls specific to construction projects
Perform detailed cost analysis to identify and track project expenses, including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and other relevant costs. Analyze cost variances, identify trends, and provide recommendations for cost-saving opportunities
Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to project stakeholders, including project managers, senior management, and clients. Provide financial insights and analysis to support decision-making processes
Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to prepare and submit accurate and timely invoices. Review billing documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with contractual terms
Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations. Ensure compliance with accounting standards, policies, and procedures
Assist in the review and analysis of construction contracts to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance. Identify potential risks, such as contract change orders or scope variations, and communicate financial implications to project stakeholders
Monitor project cash flow, including cash projections, receipts, disbursements, and funding requirements. Coordinate with project managers to optimize cash flow and mitigate financial risks
Implement and maintain effective financial controls to safeguard project assets and ensure accurate financial reporting. Identify areas for process improvement and recommend appropriate solutions
Work closely with project managers, estimators, engineers, and other stakeholders to gather financial data, provide financial insights, and support decision-making processes. Communicate complex financial information in a clear and concise manner

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
3-6 years of experience as a Construction Project Accountant or in a similar role
Strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including revenue recognition, cost control, and job costing
Excellent knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and relevant industry regulations
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other financial analysis tools
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with acute attention to detail
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams
Experience working with project management teams and understanding their operational requirements
