Joulé is a company that supports environmental, health, and safety programs within a biotech and laboratory environment. The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer will manage hazardous waste programs, ensure regulatory compliance, and support training and inspections.

Responsibilities

Manage hazardous, chemical, and biological waste programs, including chemical waste handling and spill response

Ensure compliance with San Diego County HAZMAT requirements and CERS reporting and documentation

Develop, administer, and improve EHS training programs, including in-person training for new and existing employees

Coordinate compliance activities related to regulatory agencies, including County HAZMAT, Fire Department, and Cal/OSHA

Conduct internal EHS inspections to ensure readiness for external regulatory inspections

Support incident response activities, including investigation, documentation, and follow-up actions

Maintain EHS records, reports, and documentation to support audits and inspections

Partner with facilities and operations on safety programs, including lockout/tagout and chemical safety practices

Collaborate with cross-functional teams across research and manufacturing to promote safe work practices
