Project Manager IT
The City of Aurora is looking for dedicated and collaborative individuals to join their team. The Project Manager IT role involves managing IT projects, creating and executing project plans, and ensuring successful delivery of enterprise modernization initiatives for the Information Technology Department.

Responsibilities
Vendor Management and Contract Management
Purchasing services, hardware, and software necessary to complete projects
Accountability for the delivery of IT projects
Creates and executes complex project plans and revises them as appropriate for project needs. Usually manages multiple project phases simultaneously
Communicates important project-related milestones, achievements, and risks
Defines and manages projects of moderate to large scope
Facilitates the gathering of project requirements and coordinates all project activities and tasks
Integrates subject matter expert input and vendor input to develop project plans
Manages scope, schedule, and cost within plan
Develops and proposes project estimates and works to meet project deadlines and milestones
Maintains and reports on project budget
Ensures proper coordination of resources per plan and notifies of needed resource assignments
Effectively utilizes each team member to accomplish project objectives
Facilitates the identification of risks and quality measurements and resolves and/or escalates project-related issues in a timely fashion
Tracks status and metrics on the project delivery and value; escalates to functional management upon identification of deviations (or potential deviations) from plan
Delivers informative, well-organized presentations on project status and selected project topics
Facilitates project governance and maintains project-management documentation
Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or a related field from an accredited college/university
Minimum of 3 years' experience managing multiple technology projects, including a minimum of 3 years' experience leading technology projects that involved multiple large-scale technology components, both on-premise and off-premise
Must have thorough knowledge and understanding of project management fundamentals, process design, project estimation, and budgeting
Must be conversant with current project management methodologies, as well as the Systems Development Life Cycle (SLDC) for waterfall, agile and hybrid approaches
Must have a working knowledge of the steps involved in IT business solutions procurements, vendor management, contract management, system implementations, and transition to operations
Soft skills (leadership, communication, problem-solving, negotiation, team building)
Hard skills (planning, budgeting, scheduling, risk management, issue management, quality control, Project Management tool proficiency, and vendor and contract management) to guide projects from start to finish, ensuring the vendor and City project team meet goals on time and within budget, while keeping teams aligned and stakeholders informed
Strategic thinking
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, all levels of management, including executive staff, citizens, and elected officials
Handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy
Able to manage multiple projects, objectives, and competing priorities
Adaptability and strong organizational skills to drive successful project outcomes
The selected candidate will need to obtain physical and operational security clearance for CJIS (Colorado Justice Information System)
The selected candidate will undergo a background check, motor vehicle report, and fingerprint clearance for CJIS access
Preferred
Master's degree in business, computer science or a related field preferred
Experience with executing IT projects/programs relating to the support of operations for local governmental Departments (Police, Fire, Water, Parks, Information Technology, Library, Finance, Public Works, Human Resources) is preferred
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification through Project Management Institute is strongly preferred
