Responsibilities

Serve as the technical lead for a portfolio team, providing coaching, mentorship, and technical direction

Spend ~50% hands-on initially (coding, code reviews, troubleshooting), with a planned transition toward architecture, delegation, and design oversight

Lead solution design and architecture discussions, with future participation in architecture review boards

Guide the modernization of legacy systems, applying modern engineering principles to improve scalability, maintainability, and cost efficiency

Partner with the Unified Transformation team to identify technical risk, rework or re-engineer existing integrations, and stand up new solutions aligned to modern workflows

Translate technical concepts clearly to business stakeholders and communicate effectively upward

Collaborate with cross-functional partners (QA, Business Analysts, Product Managers) within a ~12-person portfolio team

Support business-driven software enhancements and enterprise integrations

Work within an agile, sprint-based delivery model using Azure DevOps for work items and issue tracking

Required

10+ years of overall experience in software development

5+ years of experience leading engineering teams or serving as a technical lead (flexible depending on depth of leadership experience)

Proven experience mentoring, coaching, and effectively delegating work to mid- and senior-level engineers

Strong proficiency in C#

Hands-on experience with the Microsoft Azure platform

Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including writing and maintaining stored procedures

Exposure to solution architecture, including system design, integrations, and modernization strategies

Experience working with and modernizing legacy codebases

Experience working in agile/scrum environments

Familiarity with Azure DevOps for backlog management and issue tracking, with exposure to GitHub for source code repositories

Experience with enterprise-scale integrations and modernization initiatives

Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills

Preferred

Prior experience supporting or building software solutions in a retail environment

Familiarity with Python
