Responsibilities
Execute multi-layer photonic IC layouts from concept through manufacturing release
Develop Python-based design automation scripts and verification frameworks
Interface with commercial foundries and manage process design kit integration
Perform design rule checking and layout verification for complex photonic circuits
Support cross-functional teams on design-for-manufacturing requirements
Qualification
Required
Doctoral degree in relevant technical discipline (Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science)
5+ years professional experience in photonic circuit layout with proven tape-out track record
Advanced Python programming skills and version control system expertise
Deep hands-on experience with photonic layout tools and GDSII workflows
Demonstrated foundry interaction experience at commercial silicon photonics facilities
Strong foundation in physical verification including DRC and LVS methodologies
Preferred
Mixed-signal layout and co-integration of photonic/electronic subsystems
Commercial verification software experience (Calibre, Mentor Graphics tools)
Electromagnetic simulation tools for photonic device analysis (Lumerical, COMSOL, equivalent)
EDA platform experience for analog/mixed-signal design (Cadence suite)
Product development experience from prototype to production phases
Strong communication abilities for technical partnership management
