Research Associate-Derre' Lab

The University of Virginia is seeking a postdoctoral research associate in the laboratory of Dr. Isabelle Derré, focusing on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of Chlamydia infection. Responsibilities

Actively participate in research discussions within the lab and with external collaborators
Lead the preparation of scientific communications, including figures, manuscripts, grant applications, abstracts, and presentations for conferences as appropriate
Contribute to lab-wide research support activities in a collaborative and collegial environment

Required

Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant field

Preferred

Official receipt of a Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree within nine (9) months of the start date of the appointment
Documented training and experience conducting research at Biosafety Level 2 (BSL-2), including work with pathogens and/or human cell culture
At least one accepted, first-author, peer-reviewed publication prior to the start date of the appointment
Documented experience and training in one or more of the following areas: primary and/or transformed cell culture, molecular biology, cell biology, host–pathogen interactions, or microscopy
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet established deadlines
High level of motivation, intellectual engagement, and technical aptitude to independently drive a research project
Willingness to mentor junior members of the laboratory
Willingness to apply for independent funding opportunities
Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills in English
