QA/QC Inspector

Responsibilities

Inspect mechanical parts and assemblies using precision mechanical and optical instruments (verniers, micrometers, hardness testers, CMM, test fixtures, etc.)
Compare parts against engineering drawings and specifications to ensure compliance
Perform first article inspections and develop inspection criteria
Conduct incoming inspections of purchased and outsourced components
Inspect finishing processes such as plating and painting; collaborate with vendors to ensure finishing requirements are met
Process and evaluate customer returns through RMA procedures
Develop new or refine existing inspection methods based on experience and technical understanding
Document inspection results and communicate findings to relevant supervisors or departments
Issue internal corrective actions and participate as an active member of the Material Review Board
Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventative action efforts using Agile
Assist and train less senior inspectors and team members
Participate in supplier qualification processes
Recommend new inspection tools, gages, and fixtures
Manage and maintain calibration of inspection equipment

Required

Ability to interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and application sheets
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
Excellent communication skills
Expertise in using mechanical and optical inspection equipment and related calibration tools—typically gained through 10+ years of inspection experience
Ability to work with minimal supervision and make sound decisions without written instructions
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds (approximately 20% of work time)
Strong commitment to driving quality within the Binghamton facility

Preferred

CMM experience is a plus
