They are seeking a skilled part-time Controller to oversee financial management, reporting, and compliance while ensuring the accuracy of financial data and supporting business strategy.

Responsibilities

Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and project/job costing

Manage and maintain the company’s Deltek accounting system; ensure accurate reporting and data integrity

Prepare timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements

Provide financial analysis, forecasts, and budgets to support strategic decision-making

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations as well as industry-specific compliance requirements

Partner with the President to develop and monitor key financial metrics

Work closely with division leaders to ensure accurate job costing, billing, and revenue recognition

Maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting

Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners as needed

Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required

Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 3–5 years in a Controller or similar role

Proficiency in Deltek/ CE is required

Construction industry experience required, particularly with job costing and project-based accounting

Understanding of all elements of Job Cost, including labor, materials, and overhead

Working knowledge of Unions, Prevailing Wage, Certified Payroll, EEO Reporting, Multi-state Payroll Tax, Tax Exemption, Multi-state Sales Tax, OCIP/CCIP, Lien Rights, and Project Funding

Proficiency in Microsoft software programs

Advanced Excel skills required including pivot tables and lookups

Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and compliance requirements

Excellent analytical skills with the ability to present financial data clearly to non-financial stakeholders

High degree of integrity and professionalism with strong attention to detail

Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a part-time capacity
