Mechanical Engineer (Forensics)
TYG is a globally respected engineering consultancy known for solving complex challenges in the built environment. They are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead forensic investigations and provide evidence-based engineering conclusions in collaboration with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Lead and conduct forensic investigations involving mechanical systems within the built environment and industrial facilities
Perform field investigations, condition assessments, root cause analysis, and damage evaluations
Analyze building codes, standards, construction practices, and professional standards of care
Manage forensic projects from initial intake through final deliverables
Prepare clear, well-supported technical reports expressing engineering opinions and conclusions
Collaborate with internal multidisciplinary teams on complex assignments
Support business development activities, including industry events and client engagement
Serve as an expert witness in depositions, mediations, arbitrations, or trials, with firm support and guidance as needed
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
6+ years of experience in mechanical design, investigation, or forensic engineering
Professional Engineering (PE) license in at least one jurisdiction, with ability to obtain additional licensure
Strong technical writing skills with the ability to clearly articulate engineering opinions
Experience managing projects and mentoring or supporting junior engineers
Ability to work independently while collaborating across disciplines
Willingness to travel for short durations as required for project work
