Responsibilities

Accurately process payroll for all employees, including calculating wages, overtime, deductions, and taxes. Ensure timely payroll execution in accordance with company policies and legal requirements
Perform regular reconciliations of payroll-related accounts, including payroll liability accounts, and resolve any discrepancies promptly
Prepare and file payroll tax reports and returns, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Reconcile payroll tax liabilities and coordinate timely payment of payroll taxes
Prepare and post payroll journal entries to the general ledger. Ensure all payroll transactions are accurately recorded and properly classified
Assist in administering employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits. Ensure accurate processing of employee contributions and deductions
Prepare and analyze payroll-related financial reports, including payroll cost analysis, labor expense reports, and budget variance analysis. Provide insights to support management decision-making
Assist with internal and external audits related to payroll by providing necessary documentation and explanations as required
Identify opportunities to enhance payroll and accounting processes. Implement best practices to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance
Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations. Ensure all payroll and accounting activities adhere to legal and regulatory requirements

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing and accounting
Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, and accounting principles
Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex) and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP)
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees and stakeholders
Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and maintain a high level of professionalism
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently

Preferred

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus
