The Accounting Clerk will be responsible for managing subsistence payments and billing for the Department of Corrections, while assisting the Accounting Supervisor and finance team with compliance and reporting duties.

Responsibilities

Calculate and collect weekly subsistence payments for corrections residents based on Department of Corrections formulas
Prepare deposits and ensure timely delivery of collected funds to the bank
Post resident account activity including savings, withholding taxes, FICA, and program costs
Generate and distribute weekly reports, balance sheets, and charts of accounts for internal teams
Prepare weekly statements, petty cash distributions, and monthly reports for corrections programs and contractual partners
Complete monthly billing for the Department of Corrections and prepare family obligation checks
Process exit paperwork and financial disbursements for residents leaving the program
Assist with Inmate Trust audits and agency fiscal audits by gathering required financial data
Prepare monthly billing for Department of Corrections and NISH Postal; reconcile multiple receivable accounts
Print weekly checks for GIS Housing entities and assist with AP filing
Review and approve online expense reports to ensure policy compliance
Assist with annual physical inventory count
Perform other duties as assigned

Required

High School Diploma/GED or equivalent relevant experience
Minimum three years of accounting experience
Must pass drug and alcohol testing
Must pass a criminal history background check
