Harmer is a growing commercial real estate investment and development firm seeking an Accounting Manager to help build and scale their internal property accounting function. The role involves direct partnership with senior finance leadership and a balance of hands-on accounting execution and process improvement.

Responsibilities

Play a key role in establishing and refining property accounting workflows, controls, and best practices
Own the close process across multiple commercial properties, coordinating both internal activity and outsourced support
Oversee core accounting functions including payables, receivables, accruals, reconciliations, and general ledger activity
Ensure leases, billings, and tenant data are accurately maintained within the property accounting system
Produce monthly financial statements, variance explanations, and supporting analyses for leadership
Support property level accounting related to CAM, fixed assets, tenant improvements, and depreciation
Partner with property management and finance leadership on budgets, forecasts, and ongoing reforecasting efforts
Act as the primary accounting liaison to third party property managers and external service providers
Provide oversight and review of outsourced accounting resources and assist with special projects as needed

Required

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
5-10+ years of experience in commercial property accounting experience
Prior experience working with third party property managers
Experience using Yardi or similar property accounting systems
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where processes are still being built

Preferred

CPA preferred but not required
