Workforce Development Specialist I (FFTL)

Commonwealth of Kentucky is seeking a Workforce Development Specialist I to assist Kentuckians who are unemployed or underemployed. The role involves instructing claimants and employers on unemployment insurance processes, reviewing eligibility for claims, and processing related correspondence.

Responsibilities

Instructs claimants and employers via phone and email on how to complete Wage Audit Notice, New Hire Notifications and Audit Notices regarding unemployment insurance claims. Answers basic and routine questions and assists with resolving issues. Informs them of their rights and responsibilities under Unemployment Insurance laws and regulations
Performs beginning level review of eligibility reviews of simple claims in the system to ensure proper work registration, identify issues for investigation and assign to a claims investigator
Processes incoming mail and unemployment insurance claim letters either from fax, mail, email, USPS or other. Receives, stamps and logs all incoming mail to the branch. Identifies subject of mail, notes in KEWES and routes as necessary. Addresses and processes all return mail as needed. Notifies all parties of returned mail
Drafts correspondence in response to claimant requests and reviews previous days work to ensure actions processed properly

Required

Must complete two years (54 semester hours) from a college or university
Work experience in workforce programs such as WIOA, employment services, and/or unemployment insurance programs, or experience in education, public administration, business, human services, military, human resources or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis

Preferred

Ability to analyze complex data, technical data, policy, situations, etc.; to process information logically
Ability to identify potential and existing problems and develop recommendations for improvement
Ability to make well-reasoned and timely decisions based on careful, objective review and informed analysis
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing
