Substation Technician I
RMS Energy Co, LLC is seeking Substation Technicians to support complex power systems across the U.S. This hands-on field role involves working on substation projects and related high-voltage infrastructure, performing installations, inspections, and troubleshooting while adhering to safety protocols.

Responsibilities
Complete tasks with attention to detail, consistently delivering high-quality work that meets or exceeds industry standards
Use basic tools such as hypresses and hydraulic pipe benders under supervision
Assist with fabrication by learning to operate magnetic drills and hydraulic bus punches
Adhere to all safety procedures and promptly report any unsafe conditions or hazards
Support daily operations through general labor duties and other responsibilities assigned by supervisors
Engage in hands-on training and development through classes, homework, and mentorship opportunities
Contribute to team problem-solving, decision-making, and goal achievement
Collaborate with team members to drive results and maintain a positive, productive work environment
Follow PPE protocols and safety procedures while working around high-voltage equipment, at heights, or in confined spaces
Qualification
Required
Prior experience working within substation and power plant/manufacturing environments
Working knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and safety protocols, ensuring adherence to industry standards
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, lifting equipment, and safety gear
High school diploma or GED
Valid driver's license with a safe driving history
Willingness to travel up to 90% based on project needs
Must successfully complete a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs. and performing physically demanding work for extended periods
Able to work outdoors in varying conditions and environments
Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) for safety and documentation
Preferred
An associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems, or Mechanical Engineering
Previous experience with utility companies or substation contractors
Familiarity with isolated phase bus systems, grounding systems, and relay protection schemes
Completion of trade school, technical college, or skilled trade certifications
