Research and Editorial Associate to the Senior Scholar
Elizabethtown College is seeking a part-time Research and Editorial Associate to the Senior Scholar at the Young Center. The primary purpose of this position is to support the research and publication dimensions of the Young Center and the Center’s Senior Scholar.

Responsibilities
Manage editorial process related to Young Center Books in Anabaptist and Pietists Studies, including preparing manuscripts for transmittal to the Johns Hopkins University Press
Act as managing editor and copy editor for Journal of Plain Anabaptist Communities, using both Chicago and APA style guides
Create and manage distribution of biannual Young Center newsletter, including writing copy and designing layout, making decisions about newsletter content, communicating with story subjects, selecting and arranging photography, overseeing the production process with printing vendor to ensure cost-effective and high-quality product for the hardcopy distribution list, and managing the distribution for the digital distribution list (working with the College’s Jenzabar system)
Create promotional materials and advertisements for Young Center events and publications for external audiences, working closely with the College’s Office of Marketing and Communications
Maintain the Young Center website, updating and redesigning as necessary to ensure intuitive navigation, functionality, and consistency
Maintain the Amish Studies website, updating and redesigning as necessary to ensure intuitive navigation, functionality, and consistency
Create conference and registration websites for Young Center conferences and events, including digital registration portals using GiveCampus software in cooperation with the College’s Business Office
Work with the college’s Office of Disability Services to close caption videos of Young Center events and with Information Technology Office to have videos posted to the College’s YouTube channel and added to the YC website
Provide editorial and copy-editing for manuscripts prepared by the Senior Scholar
Gather research data and assist in data analysis for projects of the Senior Scholar
Utilize the following software: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop, GiveCampus, the College’s content management system for design and maintenance of Young Center web site, WordPress for design and maintenance of the Amish Studies website, HTML, Jenzabar for updating mailing lists, and Adobe Acrobat for creation of PDF files and electronic markup of book manuscripts
Attend campus meetings as necessary
Conduct all responsibilities in a safe manner according to regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in information science or English; plus two years of administrative experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Ability to preserve confidentiality of information
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to work within strict deadlines
Good interpersonal skills and desire to be a team player
Creative problem-solving skills
Exceptional customer service skills
Excellent written communication skills (i.e. business letter writing, grammar, etc.)
Excellent oral communication skills (i.e. ability to deal effectively with others, speak professionally on the phone, etc.)
Ability to use a multi-line phone system
Proficient with Microsoft® Office Suite
