Associate/Tax and Accounting, Insolvency & Litigation
Bederson LLP is seeking an Associate for their Tax and Accounting, Insolvency & Litigation Services group. The role involves working with bankruptcy clients and performing various accounting and tax-related duties under supervision, while also participating in client assignments and maintaining professional standards.
Responsibilities
Possess accounting and intermediate tax skills
Experience with tax preparation and related tax software
Experience with tax programs for individuals, partnerships, non-profits, and corporations (C and S)
Experience with general accounting and bookkeeping procedures
Working Knowledge of QuickBooks, advance excel, and general office software
Participate in client assignments from beginning to end
Identify and communicate case issues, findings, and opportunities with managers and partners to resolve issues discovered during engagements
Inventory and reconcile documents and data produced in preparation for submission to courts, attorneys and clients
Assist in preparation of exhibits and background information
Effective communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports with actionable findings, write professional correspondence and emails, and prepare work paper memos that concisely summarize key issues and work performed
Maintain and comply with highest degree of professional standards, client confidentiality and personal conduct
Participate in training and developing staff and building a team-centered client service team; monitor client issues related to compliance services and monitor engagement status and profitability as well as attending to client’s expectations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree required
3 years of experience in public accounting in tax
Ability to manage deadlines, work on multiple assignments and prioritize each assignment as necessary
Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
Proficient use of applicable technology, tax and accounting
Must be able to travel based on client and business needs

Preferred
CPA or CPA candidate
Have tax experience in 1120, 1120s 1065 AND 1040
Present well and have solid communication skills as you will need to interact with Trustees and attorneys
