Cloud Architect - Platform Architecture

Responsibilities

Provide expert leadership in cloud architecture and implementation (OS, multi-tenancy, virtualization, orchestration, scalability)
Oversee cloud strategy development, architecture governance, and foundational standards
Define and enforce cloud operating environment, standards, and supporting tools/frameworks
Shape Publix’s cloud roadmap for cloud, multi-cloud, and hybrid solutions
Establish and uphold best practices for availability, resiliency, performance, disaster recovery, and data integration
Recommend cost optimizations and ensure efficient cloud resource utilization
Analyze cloud configurations and partner cross-functionally to implement long-term fixes
Serve as SME for end-to-end cloud architecture, including networking and provisioning
Create and maintain documented cloud design patterns for application deployments
Mentor team members on cloud standards and drive cultural adoption of cloud practices
Lead development of cloud reference architecture and management systems
Escalate and resolve delivery risks, issues, and roadblocks
Validate cloud resource performance post-deployment through monitoring and metrics
Troubleshoot across IaaS, PaaS, applications, network, and security layers
Identify recurring issues and build tools/processes to prevent them
Collaborate with Architecture, Development, Engineering, and Security teams for robust solutions

Required

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related analytical field or equivalent experience
8+ years of architecture experience
8+ years of experience supporting multi-tier web applications
5+ years of experience handling workloads in large-scale environments
5+ years of experience in design and implementation of cloud workloads in Azure

Preferred

Azure Solutions Architect Expert
Experience with analyzing and defining technical requirements & design specifications
Experience with cloud native database design with both relational and document-based database systems
Experience with integrating complex multi-tier applications
Experience with API design and development
Experience with application lifecycle tools (Git, GitHub, Azure DevOps, Ansible, Terraform, etc.)
Experience with cloud networking and network security, including virtual networks, network security groups, cloud-native firewalls, etc
Able to demonstrate writing shell scripts (Cloud Shell, Bash, PowerShell, or Python)
Have a sound understanding of standard networking protocols such as HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, and advanced load balancing
Have practical knowledge of application security
Have recent experience supporting hybrid cloud and multi-cloud configuration
Have previous experience with containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc
Recent experience working with database technologies hosted in the cloud such as SQL Server, MySQL, or PostgreSQL
Have recent experience with Azure Cosmos DB, MongoDB, or Cassandra
Have passed one or more Azure certification exams
Have recent experience with Azure DevOps or other continuous integration/deployment (CI/CD) tools and pipelines
Have recent experience with big data clustering technologies (Spark, HDInsight, Databricks, etc.)
Have experience in design and implementation of cloud workloads in GCP
Have the ability to demonstrate recent experience developing software that is deployed to the cloud
