Administrative Technician - Property Crimes

Responsibilities
Answers incoming telephone calls and provides information in response to inquiries or routes them to proper person or department; searches files and/or computer databases to answer inquiries as necessary; may use two-way radio to communicate with various parties
Types and/or composes correspondence, reports, tabulations, statements, schedules, logs, card records, and/or other materials; enters data into computer databases; reviews and edits prepared material and/or data, verifying accuracy against other sources, and correcting as necessary; maintains confidentiality of various material and information
Creates forms for weekly stats, telephone rosters and schedules
Operates Computers; photo copiers; telephone equipment; Scanners; Walkie Talkie; Shredders; Calculators and Printers
Prepares photocopies of material
Sorts and distributes incoming mail; processes outgoing mail and/or courier packages; may travel to post office to retrieve or post mail; receives and transmits material via facsimile machine or e-mail
Qualification
Required
High school diploma or GED supplemented by vocational/technical training in secretarial sciences
One (1) year experience and/or training involving clerical or secretarial work involving use of computer-driven word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
Considerable knowledge of programs, policies and procedures of assigned office or department
Considerable knowledge of punctuation, grammar, spelling, and arithmetic
Considerable knowledge of routine office practices, procedures, equipment and standard clerical techniques
Ability to use popular computer-driven word processing, spreadsheet, and database programs
Ability to screen communications and route to proper source
Ability to maintain moderately complex clerical records and compile reports from these records
Ability to type or operate a computer with accuracy at the speed required by the particular position
Ability to compose proper business correspondence
Ability to transcribe audio and video
Ability to review and verify accuracy of narrative and numerical material
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Ability to exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with Sheriff's Office officials and the general public
Ability to exercise discretion in use of confidential material
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments
