Responsibilities

Review pending applications (new business, conversions, reinstatements, and changes to benefits) and make initial requests needed to evaluate the case
Analyze medical information, inspection reports, MVR reports and other information, and classify the risk
Communicate with the field force on questions regarding pending applications and underwriting decisions while using discretion when discussing privileged and confidential information
Study underwriting material, articles, and books to keep informed
Review and analyze cases from co-workers for second-initialing, and offer opinions and assistance
Refer the case to a co-worker for second initialing when the request is above the retention limits, to be cancelled, to be declined, or to be rated
Promote and enhance business relations between the agents and home office
Contact doctors' offices, reinsurance companies, Home Office Reference Lab, and agents to follow-up on information not received
Advise Medical Information Bureau of reportable information as required by MIB guidelines

Bachelor's degree or a combination of education and experience
