Finance Director

Tomaquag Museum is a growing non-profit dedicated to educating the public about Indigenous history, culture, and arts. They are seeking a part-time Finance Director who will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of the museum, developing budgets, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

Responsibilities

Develops budget and monitors financial performance
Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers and chart of accounts and supporting documentation for all financial activities of the organization
Ensures compliance with GAAP, 2 CFR 200, IRS and other reporting requirements
Coordinates and controls cash management in conjunction with the Executive Director
Effectively assembles and presents financial information to management, the board of directors and grantors
Develops a monthly reporting schedule and implements action to meet established deadlines
Communicates financial information to management and the leadership team providing advice and assistance to department heads in analyzing and interpreting data
Leads in compiling data for annual reports, such as IRS Forms 990, 1099, and 1096, the audited financial statements and reports to grantors
Oversees, in conjunction with the Executive Director and management team, the sourcing and management of all grants awarded to the organization, including but not limited to federal, state and foundation grants
Liaises with governmental (federal and state) and foundation officials
Controls and records sales tax liabilities, reports, and payments
Collaborates with Development department and reconciles Development reports to Finance department records
Oversees the fiscal administration and regulatory reporting of the employee benefits program plans
All other duties as assigned by management

Required

Senior level management experience with a minimum of 7 years' experience in financial and accounting management in human service and other non-profit agencies
A record of financial leadership and day-to-day management, including supervision of business operations, accounts payable, accounts and pledges receivable, payroll, general ledger, monthly and annual closings, benefit plans, budget and financial planning and reporting
Experience with multi-faceted planning, directing and implementing a comprehensive program of financial management and accounting in conformity with GAAP, 2CFR 200 and IRS requirements and ability to research and implement new requirements as they occur
High levels of proficiency in Word, Excel, HRIS and accounting software (e.g. Sage, MIP, Blackbaud, QuickBooks)
Experience in navigating Federal and State billing portals
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in accounting required, CPA and/or MBA a plus
Maintain orderly accounting and document filing systems, both paper and electronic
Able to work in a fast-paced, busy environment while maintaining attention to detail and accuracy, prioritizing workflow appropriately to meet multiple deadlines
Able to work independently as well as with a team
Able to lift 25 pounds, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, stretch, bend and remain at workstation for prolonged periods of time
