CAS Analyst

The California Department of Justice is seeking a CAS Analyst to serve as an advanced technical specialist within the telecommunications environment of the CLETS Administration Section. The role involves providing network consultation, technical expertise, and oversight related to CLETS, including coordinating complex network design proposals and providing training sessions for criminal justice personnel.

Responsibilities

Providing independent network consultation to local, state, and federal law enforcement; criminal justice agencies; and appropriate in-house Department of Justice (DOJ) management
Advising and directing criminal justice agencies on the processes and policies that must be followed to obtain and maintain CLETS access
Coordinating the connection of network carrier service lines
Coordinating vendor changes and enhanced software testing prior to implementation and connectivity to CLETS
Performing complex analyses and studies related to CLETS
Providing interpretations of California and federal laws, as well as DOJ, CLETS and FBI policies
Coordinating and providing staff support to the CLETS Advisory Committee at meetings
Independently preparing and providing presentations and technical training sessions related to CLETS at meetings and conferences attended by criminal justice personnel

Required

Independence and initiative in performing duties with substantial technical decision-making discretion
Technical expertise and oversight to the CLETS audit processes
Independent network consultation to local, state, and federal law enforcement; criminal justice agencies; and appropriate in-house Department of Justice (DOJ) management
Advising and directing criminal justice agencies on the processes and policies that must be followed to obtain and maintain CLETS access
Coordinating the connection of network carrier service lines
Coordinating vendor changes and enhanced software testing prior to implementation and connectivity to CLETS
Performing complex analyses and studies related to CLETS
Providing interpretations of California and federal laws, as well as DOJ, CLETS and FBI policies
Coordinating and providing staff support to the CLETS Advisory Committee at meetings
Independently preparing and providing presentations and technical training sessions related to CLETS at meetings and conferences attended by criminal justice personnel
Completion of two years of satisfactory additional experience performing duties equivalent to or higher than an Information Technology Specialist I for Range B
Completion of four years of satisfactory additional experience performing duties equivalent to or higher than an Information Technology Specialist I for Range C
