Employment Counsel
Ibex Search is a global, consumer-facing lifestyle company seeking an Employment Counsel to support its growing U.S. and international workforce. This role involves providing legal guidance on employment law matters and partnering with HR and Retail leadership to ensure compliance with employment laws and best practices.
Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day legal advice on employment law matters, including hiring, compensation, worker classification, leaves of absence, accommodations, discipline, investigations, and terminations
Partner with HR, Payroll, and People Operations to support compliant implementation of employment laws, policies, and programs
Draft and review offer letters, employment agreements, and related documentation for corporate and retail employees
Advise HR and Retail teams on wage and hour compliance, including timekeeping, overtime, meal and rest periods, sick time, and paid leave
Monitor and assess changes in U.S. and international employment laws, with a focus on key U.S. retail markets
Develop and deliver training for managers on employment law topics, risk mitigation, and best practices
Qualification
Required
J.D. from a top 25 law school and active California bar membership
3–5 years of employment law experience. Leading AmLaw 200 law firm required
Strong command of U.S. wage and hour laws
California employment law expertise
Preferred
In-house legal department experience
Experience supporting an international workforce or working with international employment counsel
Experience in the retail industry
