Summer Internship Program
The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission is seeking eight highly motivated Undergraduate and Graduate Summer Interns who are passionate about shaping communities and building a better future. Interns will have the opportunity to dive into exciting plans and projects, applying smart growth strategies to cultivate dynamic urban centers and encourage great community design.

Basic understanding of pedestrian, bicycle, and transit best practices
Familiarity with ArcGIS Pro
Experience with community engagement and public speaking

Strong research skills
Ability to assist with data collection
Strong data cleaning and analysis skills

Qualification
Required
Students must currently be enrolled in urban planning, urban design, architecture, landscape architecture, geography, history, anthropology, public policy, environmental studies, sustainability, business, finance, accounting, communications, or journalism at a college or university at the undergraduate or graduate level and must have a 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
Currently enrolled in college pursuing either an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree or attending a technical school pursuing a professional license in a field of study related to the discipline of the area to which assigned
Student who has received a Bachelor's Degree and accepted or enrolled in a Master's Degree Program in a field of study related to the discipline of the area to which assigned
Students must attach a copy of a college transcript to the application. An unofficial transcript is acceptable
Students must attach a personal statement to the application, indicating goals and aspirations that may be enhanced by participating in the program. Statements must be at least one (1) page long
Applicants should already have the skills or relevant experience noted for each internship when they apply
