The Commissioning Engineer I is responsible for supporting engineering teams in commissioning activities, including site inspections and equipment testing, while ensuring safety and compliance with industry standards.

Electrical & Electronic Manufacturing

Responsibilities

Assist in the commissioning of electrical/mechanical systems and equipment, including power distribution systems, control systems, and backup power systems
Assist with conducting site observations and preparing field reports on the status of projects with respect to compliance
Implement the use of appropriate barriers to prevent unnecessary outages while working in substations or on any type of energized equipment
Review drawings and submittals to ensure compliance with design specifications and project requirements
Create and perform test procedures for electrical/mechanical equipment to ensure proper operation
Assist in the development and execution of test procedures and protocols
Document test results and provide detailed reports on the findings
Prepare punch list reports and determine corrective measures to on-site problems
Identify customer needs and resolve or escalate issues/needs to appropriate parties
Investigate commissioning problems and implement solutions to resolve identified issues
Work with senior engineers to develop and implement solutions to resolve any identified issues
Maintain accurate and detailed records of commissioning activities, including test results, equipment logs, and inspection reports
Prepare commissioning documentation and contribute to the preparation of final project reports
Provide daily reports of equipment testing performed each day onsite
Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures while performing commissioning activities
Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and client specifications
Support the safety culture and ensure safe working conditions
Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, and other team members to ensure successful project execution
Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders to provide updates on commissioning activities
Monitor performance of vendors, contractors, and other third parties

Required

Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check
Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test
Basic knowledge of electrical/mechanical systems, equipment, and testing procedures
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Ability to multi-task and effectively manage time in a dynamic environment while maintaining flexibility under changing demands
Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret electrical/mechanical blueprints and schematics
Capable of effectively presenting information and responding to questions from diverse groups with varying levels of technical expertise
2 years of hands-on commissioning experience in data centers
Ability to obtain an OSHA 10 certification
Knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and OSHA Electrical Safe Work Practices
Knowledge of use, limitations, and maintenance of all Personal Protective Equipment
Combination of office and field work environment with frequent travel to project sites (throughout the United States); must have a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and must be insurable
May require working in various environmental conditions, including construction sites, operational facilities, and energized equipment up to 136kV
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Ability and willingness to work occasional overtime as needed
Potential low exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust

Preferred

Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Math, or a related field preferred
