Quantify and diagnose model biases in ecosystem responses to climatic drivers across different plant functional types and geographic regions
Identify key model parameters responsible for these biases
Constrain these parameters by minimizing mismatches between simulated and observed sensitivities of carbon cycle variables
Qualification
Required
Ph.D. in Earth science, mathematics, or a related field
Research proposal
Three letters of recommendation
Official doctoral transcript documents
Eligibility: U.S. Citizens; U.S. Lawful Permanent Residents (LPR); Foreign Nationals eligible for an Exchange Visitor J-1 visa status; and, Applicants for LPR, asylees, or refugees in the U.S. at the time of application with 1) a valid EAD card and 2) I-485 or I-589 forms in pending status
Degree: Doctoral Degree
Preferred
Experience in terrestrial carbon cycle science
Experience in data assimilation
Experience in large-scale Earth system modeling
