Development Accounting Manager
McCormack Baron Companies is seeking a Development Accounting Manager to oversee all accounting and finance aspects of their development projects. The role involves managing a portfolio of projects, preparing financial reports, and supervising a team of accountants while ensuring compliance with various financial regulations.

Responsibilities
Accurate preparation and analysis of monthly draws for multiple projects in various stages of construction for submission to lenders, agencies, and project managers
General Ledger and Job Cost systems maintenance with monthly reconciliation
Review of various legal documents to ensure that all financial information is recorded correctly
Preparation/reconciliation of various reports as required from government agencies, investors, lending institutions, and title companies
Preparation of correspondence to various lenders and agencies
Management of flow of funds - record and track funding and disbursements of monthly draws
Selection of job cost payables for weekly cash disbursements
Track cash deficits for lease-up properties and coordinate lease-up draw requests
Supervising and training a small team of development accountants
Perform periodic performance reviews and provide feedback
Managing and coordinating the dynamic scheduling of development draws and cost certifications
Reviewing and understanding various legal documents for information pertinent to development accounting
Reviewing development accounting and cost certifications for accuracy
Effectively communicating in a professional manner with the project team to ensure accurate financial information recording
Collaborating and interacting professionally with internal colleagues, audit firms, title companies, and agencies
Monitoring and stepping in as needed to perform the duties of the development accountants at crucial development financing milestones
Paying close attention to detail and making informed decisions
Leadership and accountability for the efficient transition of all projects to the management accounting team upon the beginning of operations
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with a minimum of five years' construction/LIHTC real estate development background
Intermediate to advanced Excel skills
Proficiency in Adobe and Word
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills to serve as the direct supervisor of development accountants
A strong work ethic and the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast paced, deadline driven environment with minimal supervision
Effective time management skills
A strong knowledge and understanding of the documentation required in complex, mixed-finance, tax credit-equity funded, public-private development projects
The ability to review and understand various legal documents for information pertinent to development accounting
The knowledge and ability to review development accounting and cost certifications for accuracy
Persuasive communication skills
The ability to collaborate and interact professionally and productively with internal colleagues, audit firms, title companies, and agencies
A team-centered mindset requiring the ability to closely monitor and step in as needed to perform the duties of the development accountants
The ability to pay close attention to detail, strong analytical / problem-solving skills, and the ability to make informed decisions
Leadership and accountability for the efficient transition of all projects to our management accounting team upon the beginning of operations

Proficiency in SAGE accounting systems
