Assistant Director of Simulation and Labs

Responsibilities

Develops, delivers, and supports lab and simulation-based courses across all nursing and health science programs
Ensures all instructional practices align with current professional standards and accreditation requirements
Evaluates simulation outcomes using competency-based and accreditation-aligned benchmarks
Provides technical and logistical support for simulation sessions, including set-up, break-down, and operation of high-fidelity manikins and related equipment
Collaborates with the Director of Simulation & Labs to manage and support the simulation and lab program
Develops and oversees a standardized patient program across all programs
Manages inventory and maintenance of lab and simulation center equipment
Maintains warranty records and ensures the lab is equipped with state-of-the-art, fully functional technology
Prepares and submits the lab budget to the Office of the Provost
Advises and mentors students in the undergraduate nursing program
Participates in School committees, faculty governance, and accreditation processes
Be an active participant in the life of the College by attending and supporting key events like Commencement, Homecoming, and other all-hands-on-deck gatherings. Show a spirit of collaboration and community involvement, including volunteering when possible

Required

Master's degree in Nursing required; terminal degree preferred
Eligible for RN licensure in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts
Minimum of 3 years of clinical nursing practice
Prior experience teaching in lab and/or simulation settings within a nursing program
Expertise in generalist nursing competencies and standards of care
Willingness to complete training in simulation education pedagogy and evaluation
Experience with healthcare informatics and simulation technology
Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace (Drive, Docs, Sheets, Forms), and Canvas LMS
Demonstrated excellence in simulation and lab-based teaching
Proven ability to advise and mentor undergraduate students
Excellent interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills
Conflict resolution skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse student body, including traditional, non-traditional, and adult learners
Strong organizational and time management skills; self-directed and detail-oriented
Commitment to inclusive education, social justice, and the development of students' cultural competencies
Documented record of academic scholarship and service
Active participation in professional organizations
