Law Practice
Responsibilities
Represent clients in Marchman Act petitions, hearings, and related proceedings across Florida
Handle guardianship cases involving mental health and substance use issues, including emergency and plenary matters
Advise families, professionals, and referral partners on legal options during behavioral health crises
Appear in court and effectively advocate for treatment based outcomes while safeguarding due process
Collaborate with treatment providers, interventionists, clinicians, and care teams
Draft petitions, motions, pleadings, and supporting documentation with accuracy and urgency
Educate clients on legal rights, procedures, and realistic expectations throughout the process
Maintain accurate and timely case documentation in firm systems
Uphold ethical standards and confidentiality while managing emotionally sensitive cases
Qualification
Required
Active license to practice law in the State of Florida in good standing
Experience or strong interest in behavioral health law, guardianship, family law, or related fields
Courtroom experience and comfort handling evidentiary hearings preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage a high volume of time sensitive matters
High emotional intelligence and the ability to work compassionately with families in crisis
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Alignment with the firm's mission, values, and client centered approach
Preferred
Experience with Marchman Act or Baker Act proceedings
Background in guardianship law
Prior work with treatment centers, hospitals, or mental health professionals
Personal or professional exposure to recovery or behavioral health systems
