Responsibilities

Assess and evaluate Personal Lines insurance policy risks
Underwrite with transparency, and authorize the acceptance of new business, renewals, cancellations and endorsements to develop and retain profitable business
Work within your authority, company guidelines, applicable laws and regulations, while applying rates and premiums on policies
Review Underwriting reports such as claims, driver records and questionnaires to assess risk
Be inquisitive and have a growth & solution mindset when communicating and helping brokers
May provide technical advice, recommendations, and mentoring to your peers and brokers
Deliver training by presenting to your peers and brokers
Answering inquiries and making recommendations to brokers through verbal and written correspondence
Develop and manage relationships with internal/external business partners: participate in courtesy visits, insurance industry and marketing events, promote products and services, solicit new business and identify opportunities for profitable growth
Write summaries regarding overall results

Required

Completed undergraduate degree, diploma, or equivalent work experience in business, finance, administration, or a related field required
Underwriting experience is an asset and these candidates will be prioritized
Insurance Professional (CIP) designation complete, in progress or willing to complete within 3 years
Must demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and critical thinking
Must be able to interpret policy wording and legal documents
Excellent sales and customer retention skills
Proficient computer and keyboarding skills
Excellent verbal and written communication and relationship building abilities
Willing to travel to broker's offices as required, in possession of a valid driver's license and a good driving record
Demonstrated efficiency and strong time-management skills to meet competing priorities
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada
