Responsibilities

Execute existing contracts supporting various government clients related to energetic materials chemistry, novel energetic diagnostic development, munition component development, low-rate initial production, energetic material performance testing and other emerging technologies
Develop and execute safety documentation and ensure resulting practices are effectively integrated into the work being performed
Perform design work for test fixtures, control systems and data collection utilizing various CAD systems
Acts as a leader and mentor for conducting hazardous operations. Will help with the training of safe operations and compliance with regulators related to the energetic materials industry
Supports the team on upkeep of facilities, staff training and business growth strategies
Works with Program Managers and Business Development to leverage client relationships to stay informed of client business plans and priorities and identify high growth/value opportunities for Battelle with our various clients. Positions Battelle to win follow on programs and new business
Prepares and delivers presentations to internal management and to external customers. Works with program managers and technical staff to understand program goals to ensure high-level contract performance ratings
Stays abreast of industry needs and issues. Helps to bring in needed skills as the industry evolves
Analyze data and recommend modifications to experiments or procedures to meet desired specifications/deliverables
Assist with the technical writing of internal and external reports and presentations

Required

The candidate should have a bachelors degree in a related field; at least 5 years of technical or program management experience; or an equivalent combination of education and or experience in management of hazardous operations, knowledge or management of energetics RDT&E or a related field
Excellent oral and communication skills to effectively interact with higher management levels internally and with client organizations, subcontractors, consultants and staff
Experience working with U.S. government clients, including leading/writing proposals, proposal and bidding processes, awards, and execution
Significant experience with munitions/explosives research, development, and/or test and evaluation
US Citizen
DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain

Preferred

Intimate knowledge of safe handling practices for munitions and ordnance
Knowledge of applicable government regulations pertaining to energetic materials
Knowledge of explosives or propellant formulation, synthesis, handling, and testing. Including military, commercial, and/or improvised explosives, rocket propellants, and gun propellants
Experience with operating high speed test instrumentation related to energetic materials and recording their results
Knowledge of development, production and testing of explosive initiators
Knowledge of development, production, and testing of warheads and other explosives
Knowledge of development, production, and testing of propulsion systems
Experience growing statement of work through on contract growth, new awards and building teams in geographically diverse locations
Familiar with intellectual property processes and procedures
