Responsibilities
Efficiently navigate and make full utilization of the EHR system, identifying and resolving problems and proactively mitigating risk within billing compliance
Research, lead, and direct the implementation of compliance with current and new billing rules, regulations, laws and payor contractual requirements
Lead and direct the billing department in developing, and implementing, a formal compliance audit plan
Conduct compliance investigations/audits
Initiate and manage application process with 3rd party insurance agencies to optimize billing opportunities/reimbursement for the agency
Resolve claim denials and appeal with all identified payors in a timely manner
Provide training and education to Program Directors and staff regarding documentation requirements for billing purposes to include required timelines, due dates, and eligible v. ineligible services including place of service restrictions
Work collaboratively with the Clinical Operations Officer to ensure existing services are performed in billing compliant modality and identify potential opportunity for billing enhancements
Navigate and perform billing functions within NJMHAPPS as needed
Provide support in completion of billing for agency as necessary
Complete reporting and special projects as requested by Chief Financial Officer
Maintain confidential information in accordance with agency policies
Qualification
Required
High School diploma or equivalent
Strong initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively
Multi-task oriented; quick learner and versatile
Highly organized with an emphasis on attention to detail
Extensive knowledge of various compliance rules and regulations regarding billing reimbursement is required
Five to ten years of progressive health experience in compliance, business office/patient financial services, finance, information systems and /or health information management is required
Possession of a valid New Jersey driver's license with a clean five-year driving record that meets organizational standards and qualifies for insurance coverage
A Background Check is required Clear Five year driving record/abstract with ability to be insured by organizations carrier
