Executive Producer - Promotional & Motion Design

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is the nation's cultural center and living memorial to President John F. Kennedy, presenting performances across all genres. They are seeking an Executive Producer for Promotional & Motion Design to lead motion-based brand expression, manage promotional video content, and ensure consistent creative standards across platforms.

Responsibilities

Motion Graphics & Promotional Video Production – Lead the design, production, and execution of all promotional and institutional video content across Kennedy Center platforms. Oversee the creation of performance and festival promotions, institutional campaigns, donor communications, and broadcast branding for events such as the Kennedy Center Honors and Mark Twain Prize. Ensure all content reflects the Kennedy Center’s brand identity and meets standards for quality, accessibility, and SEO optimization (titles, descriptions, tags, thumbnails, cards, and endslates)
Visual Brand Stewardship – Manage and evolve the Kennedy Center’s motion graphics system, including logo animation, lower thirds, title cards, end sequences, and other visual elements. Develop and maintain cohesive visual branding across digital, broadcast, social, and campus signage. Create scalable design templates and style guides to ensure brand consistency
Creative Direction & Strategy – Collaborate with marketing, design, and advertising teams to align video and motion content with campaign goals. Translate institutional and programmatic objectives into visually compelling storytelling. Provide creative leadership and art direction on major branded projects and campaigns
Campus Signage & Environmental Media – Oversee content strategy and creative direction for on-campus video signage, including pylons, Justice Forum, horizontal and memorial displays, and temporary event screens. Collaborate with IT, Advertising, and Facilities to maintain visual quality and technical consistency
Accessibility & Compliance – Partner with the Office of Accessibility to ensure video content meets captioning, legibility, and ASL standards across all platforms. Serve as the multimedia liaison for accessibility practices in motion design
Archival & Institutional Requests – Manage requests for archival video assets from Legal, Development, PR, and external partners, ensuring proper branding, rights, and delivery formats

Required

Bachelor's degree or relevant professional experience in Motion Design, Graphic Design, Communications, or a related field
Minimum 5–7 years of professional experience producing and managing motion graphics and video content, preferably in arts, entertainment, or media organizations
Proven track record in visual brand development, video storytelling, and cross-platform campaign production
Demonstrated passion for the performing arts and cultural storytelling
Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects and Premiere Pro
Strong understanding of typography, composition, and animation principles
Knowledge of accessibility best practices in video and motion design
Experience managing video platforms (YouTube, Brightcove) and social media publishing tools
Excellent creative judgment, problem-solving, and project management abilities
Ability to interpret brand strategy into cohesive motion design systems
Candidate must be local or willing to relocate to the DMV area. Relocation assistance is not provided
Candidate must be willing to work onsite

Preferred

Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Cinema 4D, Blender, or Redshift preferred
Familiarity with brand toolkits, style guide creation, and templated workflows preferred
