Assistant City Engineer
The City of Laguna Beach is excited to announce an opening for the Assistant City Engineer in the Public Works and Utilities Department. This role involves overseeing staff and functions in the Engineering Division, focusing on development review, traffic management, and utility coordination.

Responsibilities
Overseeing the development review process and other engineering functions
Managing review of parking, traffic, and circulation issues
Managing the issuance and inspection of public works permits
Managing, and overseeing the management of the pavement management system
Overseeing activities of traffic engineering projects and processes
Qualification
Required
Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering or a closely related field
Five years of professional civil engineering experience including review of private developments, issuance of public works permits, and design and construction contract administration of public works projects
At least two years of supervising professional engineering staff
A valid Professional Engineer (PE) license in Civil Engineering issued by the State of California must be obtained prior to appointment and maintained as a condition of continued employment
Preferred
Experience in traffic engineering and/or development review
