Outside Sales Representative - Security Systems
Staffworks Group is hiring an experienced Outside Sales Representative to grow new business and expand existing accounts across Western New York. This role involves managing a sales territory, conducting security assessments, and presenting proposals to clients while ensuring account growth and accurate reporting.
Responsibilities
Own and grow a Rochester/Buffalo territory (travel 2–3 days/week)
Build and manage a 3–4× sales pipeline through outbound prospecting, site visits, LinkedIn, referrals, and industry events
Target commercial, industrial, multi-family, and select residential clients
Conduct on-site security assessments (risk, coverage, lighting, network basics)
Partner with engineers/estimators on system design, layouts, and demos
Present proposals that highlight ROI, compliance, and long-term value
Negotiate pricing, scope, and terms to meet margin targets
Expand accounts through add-ons (cloud VMS, analytics, access control, service agreements)
Ensure smooth handoff to operations and project management
Maintain accurate CRM activity, forecasting, and pipeline reporting
Track win/loss data, competitive insights, and customer feedback
Qualification
Required
Alarm / security systems experience
2+ years of B2B outside sales (security, low-voltage, telecom, SaaS, construction trades preferred)
Working knowledge of CCTV, access control, and intrusion systems
Comfortable on job sites and reading floor plans
Strong communication and CRM skills (HubSpot, Salesforce, or similar)
Valid driver's license; able to travel across WNY
Preferred
NEC/NFPA exposure
Experience with property management, manufacturing, K-12, or municipal clients
