Responsibilities

Counsel business on compliance with FERC, TX RRC, and other pipeline regulatory agency requirements for Targa's natural gas liquids business

Assist with FERC and TX RRC administrative proceedings, tariff filings, rate cases, and advocacy

Proven strategic support to implement pipeline regulatory business objectives

Counsel business on compliance with PUCT, ERCOT, and related regulations and requirements

Assist with the negotiation and drafting of commercial agreements involving electricity

As needed, assist with advocacy on other regulatory matters

Represent company in relevant industry trade groups

Prepare and submit regulatory filings

Counsel business clients regarding the regulatory impacts of proposed projects and commercial agreements

Work as a team with business clients and other attorneys to anticipate and respond to regulatory changes in order to achieve business objectives

Required

Juris Doctorate, licensed to practice law in Texas (or can become immediately eligible to be admitted to the State Bar of Texas)

4 – 8 years of legal experience, with substantial law firm experience preferred

Strong academic background

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, legal analysis, drafting, and negotiation

Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic legal environment and respond quickly to commercial demands

Commercial, pragmatic, and flexible approach, and ability to quickly grasp complex commercial arrangements

Experience with providing, or willingness to provide, legal advice to senior level business leaders

Ability to develop and sustain relationships with clients at all levels

Proven track record as a team player

Broad administrative law experience including in-depth knowledge of FERC regulations applicable to liquids pipelines

Experience with ERCOT, PUCT, and other power-related regulations

Experience negotiating and drafting various power agreements potentially including power supply agreements, infrastructure development, private use networks and behind-the-meter electric supply arrangements, and utility interconnection and extension agreements

Experience with providing regulatory advice in connection with mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, including due diligence activities
