CHA Consulting, Inc. is seeking a Survey Crew Chief to join our Survey Geospatial Team in Columbia, SC, where you’ll take the lead on field operations that support transportation projects across our communities. This role involves directing field crew members, performing various types of surveys, and ensuring high-quality data collection in dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

Direct and lead field crew members through daily survey assignments, ensuring safe, efficient, and well‑coordinated field operations in alignment with safety protocols and quality assurance standards
Perform record research, construction stakeout, boundary, topographic, transportation, and utility surveys utilizing total stations, data collectors, and GPS
Review legal documents, plans, and project materials to accurately plan and execute surveying projects and task goal establishment
Create and verify field sketches and field computations related to traversing, map interpretation, and layout

Required

High school diploma
Minimum of 3 years of related experience
Strong knowledge of surveying practices, field procedures, and industry standards
Strong leadership, communication, and team - coordination skills with the ability to represent the firm professionally with clients and the broader public
Ability to lift and carry equipment over uneven terrain and work outdoors in all weather conditions
Valid driver's license

Preferred

A.A.S. and/or B.S degree
Drone data collection or laser scanning experience
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Knowledge of AutoCAD and MicroStation
Trimble application knowledge
NSPS - CST Level II certification
LSIT
