Responsibilities
Provide civil engineering support for projects within a nuclear facility, ensuring compliance with structural and seismic requirements
Evaluate and design structural supports, including drilling into walls, cutting rebar, and assessing load-bearing capacities
Address emergent field issues, such as design conflicts and material substitutions (e.g., selecting alternative beams for light seismic lifting)
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement design changes and resolve unforeseen obstacles during construction
Ensure designs meet required load specifications and adhere to federal and facility standards
Maintain clear documentation and follow standard design processes, preferably aligned with nuclear industry practices
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
2–5 years of civil engineering experience
Familiarity with structural and seismic design principles
Understanding of standard design processes
Ability to work onsite and respond to emergent issues promptly
Preferred
Experience working in a nuclear facility or similar regulated environment
Strong problem-solving skills for field-based challenges and design adjustments
Knowledge of structural load calculations and seismic considerations
