Whatcom County Health & Community Services is seeking to fill the position of Temporary Extra Help Accounting Technician. This position is responsible for grant tracking and invoicing in the Health Department's business office, including preparing financial reports and ensuring compliance with grant requirements.

Responsibilities

Independently researching, compiling, and preparing complex financial reports, budgets and audit information for contracts and grants
Assisting program supervisors on grant requirements and compliance
Ensuring reporting is completed in a timely manner
Reconciling accounts receivable
Receiving, receipting, reconciling and depositing money and goods
Auditing employee time sheets for accuracy
Preparing payroll
Maintaining records of vacation, sick leave and all other payroll records
Maintaining documentation of employee salary matrix placement and initiating source documents to implement changes to pay

Qualification

Accounting experienceGrant accountingContract accountingGovernmental accountingBookkeeping courses

Required

High school diploma or GED
4 years of progressively responsible experience in an accounting-related field
Completion of 15 credit hours of accounting or bookkeeping courses beyond the high school level

Preferred

Experience with grant and contract accounting and monitoring
Knowledge of governmental accounting
