Coordinator for Health Education Strategy (HEC II)

Responsibilities
Drive the creation of engaging, evidence-informed learning experiences that help Longhorns thrive
Shape campuswide health education strategies, design dynamic workshops, and build systems that ensure programs are high-quality, accessible, and impactful
Partner with the LWC team to refresh content, evaluate effectiveness, and promote offerings across campus
Deliver compelling presentations and trainings for students, faculty, and staff, and develop measurable learning outcomes tied to core wellness topics like social connection, suicide prevention, stress, sleep, healthy sexuality, and interpersonal violence prevention
Help build a multimodule online health and wellness course and collaborate with communications and design teams to bring health education to life through digital media and innovative technology
Co‑teach a three semester peer education course sequence and create an engaging, supportive learning environment for emerging student leaders
Guide peer educators through interactive lessons, professional development, and hands on project work
Strengthen the peer educator community through retreats, trainings, and social events, and lead recruitment efforts for new members
Develop course materials, training curricula, and evaluation tools that help students grow as confident, skilled health advocates
Take the lead on implementing UT Austin’s required online health education modules
Coordinate custom content, manage timelines, and collaborate with partners across campus to ensure a smooth, student centered rollout
Develop assessments, craft communication materials, and troubleshoot questions or issues as they arise
Maintain best‑practice guides and implementation resources that keep the program running seamlessly year after year
Help bring wellness initiatives to life across the Forty Acres
Work closely with student organizations, campus departments, faculty, staff, and community partners to design and implement programs rooted in evidence‑based practices
Contribute your voice to committees and planning groups, use assessment data to shape program direction, and develop clear program plans with measurable outcomes
Support funding efforts by preparing budgets and proposals, and stay current with emerging trends in college health
Recruit, hire, and mentor student staff and interns who contribute to LWC’s mission
Provide regular guidance, feedback, and professional development opportunities
Oversee student led health promotion projects and help students build skills that prepare them for future careers
Engage fully in LWC team efforts, respond promptly to communications, and participate in staff development activities
Actively participate on departmental and campus committees to advance student health and wellbeing on campus
Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the mission of the Longhorn Wellness Center
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as public health, education, public policy, social work, etc
2 years professional (post Bachelors) work experience in health promotion, education, social services, public policy or related field
Extensive knowledge of and experience working on issues surrounding health promotion, harm reduction, and/or culture change
Experience developing engaging learning opportunities across a variety of platforms
Demonstrated experience in building partnerships, strategic planning, and/or project management
Ability to manage multiple complex job duties and project-based work. High level organizational skills
Proven ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in decision making
Knowledge of current/emerging college health issues, intervention methods, health behavior change theories, ecological framework, and/or evidence-based practices
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
Preferred
Master's degree in a relevant field such as public health, education, public policy, social work, etc
Demonstrated ability in core areas of health promotion, public health program planning, and assessment/evaluation
Demonstrated experience using innovative technology and communication methods to enhance education
Work experience within a higher education setting or with the college student population
