Payroll Specialist 1 (02-4085)

NEOGOV is seeking a Payroll Specialist 1 to join the Statewide Payroll Production team within the Division of Finance. The role involves maintaining compliance with employment statutes, conducting data analysis, and assisting with payroll transactions and systems testing.

Responsibilities

Assists with maintaining compliance with state and Federal statutes regarding employment
Conducts data analysis and research to ensure accurate recording and reporting of payroll transactions
Assists with systems testing
Completes tasks related to taxation, direct deposit recalls, stop pay/reissuance of payroll warrants, and completion of special projects related to payroll production
Works heavily in Excel to review large data sets and take actions utilizing spreadsheet reports

Required

Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in Analysis and Assessment
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in Customer Service
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in Financial Systems
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in Problem Solving
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in Technical Competence
Journey technical experience processing payroll actions, reviewing error reports, resolving related conflict, reconciling dollar figures, reporting errors, and using a web-based database application
Training or education in accounting, computer science, information technology, business management, or a related field
Familiarity with Excel formatting and formulas is essential to success in this role
